Many options for working with ISO files are included with Microsoft Windows 10. Here’s how to mount, burn, or create an ISO image in Windows 10. Mounting ISO File. If you have an existing ISO file and wish to mount it as a disc drive, simply right-click the file and select “Open with” “Windows Explorer“.
We all play games or download other applications right? Maybe you have seen them in the form of an ISO image file. It’s a rather cool process to store data in a digital form of a disc. The uses of real CD or DVD are not gone yet. Many of us still use these to store files on them just for safety purposes.
You know a finalized CD or DVD cannot carry a virus. As the disk won’t be writable again, there is no chance of spreading any virus that might have gone into it. And that makes it even cooler.
Burning a CD or DVD is pretty easy, and you may have this function by default in Windows 10. But it’s not used that much as it’s only a primary burner. So, if you want a proper burning tool that is pretty lightweight and would do the work just fine, then you have come to the right place.
I’ll be giving you some best free ISO burners that will work fine in Windows 10. They are all very easy to use and very lightweight. Beware, as these might become your favorite ISO burning tools! So, let’s take a look at them.
1. Active@ ISO Burner
Active@ ISO Burner is one of the best professional-looking tools. It’s a LSoft’s product which is usually pretty high. With this one, you can burn ISO and IMG files to any CD or DVD or Blu-rays. You can only drop the file in the window and click Burn. It’s as easy as that.
What I loved about this are the details it shows about every inserted file or media. You will see it on the right side of the display. There are also options for burning modes like Track-At-Once or Disk-At-Once. You can erase a rewritable disc. And the writing speed is pretty high.
Moreover, you can even write up to 100 copies in just one session. And you will find many options like auto verify and eject after a burn, erase speed and buffer under run protection in the options menu.
Though the program will offer and will try to install a driver, it’s not necessary. It will still function without it. It works pretty great in Windows 10 with an ease of service.
2. BurnCDCC
This ISO burner could be your next choice if you like standalone applications. That means you don’t have to install it on your computer for it to work. And BurnCDCC is just like that.
You’ll download a zip file with the standalone executable file. So, you just have to open it and click on the .exe file, and that’s it.
No unnecessary fuss about installation. And I like this one the most. It will burn the ICO files to CD, DVD, and BD. There are also options for auto-eject, verifying the burned disc and finalizing the media.
So, it becomes permanent. You can also determine the write speed, but it’s best if you go with slower speed. The size is not even 100KB, so you don’t have to worry about a massive app that will slow your PC down.
3. Free ISO Burner
Free ISO Burner is for all kind of use. It can write any files on your CD and DVD. Moreover, it’s straightforward and easy to use. You will have access to some minor options like cache size and volume label, though they are not much you can change them if necessary.
You can finalize the disc and even set the speed. It’s also a portable executable and works fine in Windows 10. The thing that I didn’t like about this one is that it cannot erase a rewritable disc and will show you an error if you try that.
Other than that, it’s a cool free ISO burner.
4. ImgBurn
ImgBurn can be your number one choice if you are not a rookie. It’s the most comprehensive tool among all the free ISO burners. The fact that it can write a large number of file formats to disc is extraordinary.
And you can also create ISO files from folders or other options. It supports a variety of audio file formats along with video formats. DVD, HD-DVD or Blu-ray just name it and it will get the job done.
You won’t find this amount of options in any free ISO burners. It’s small software giving you many options to try out and make the experience a good one. Though, with so many options people might get things a bit wrong.
But if you are a professional then it is the one for you. But remember it will try to install some junkware so be careful installing it.
5. ISOBurn
ISOBurn is somewhat like BurnCDCC, size is tiny, but it’s not portable as BurnCDCC. You have to install it to use it. But it has an erase option that will let you have rewritable CDs or DVDs. The process is pretty quick.
You’ll have a couple of primary option that you can mark by tick boxes, but nevertheless, it’s a simple burner.
It works on any platform. So if you are looking for something incredibly simple with a simple interface, then this is the right one.

6. True Burner
It’s a Glory logic’s product, and like their other products, this one comes with the best options. Just insert the disc and fire up the program. You can tweak many settings like your drive and target burning speed, multi-session disc or single, finalizing or giving the title.
And there’s a lot more where those came. After you open one up, you have to select the files or folders to get it in the system. You can even drag the files or browse to it. Here you will get an option of renaming the files before burning.
And after that just click on start burning, and that’s it. The size is pretty small and consumes less power than other free ISO burners.
7. Passcape ISO Burner
This one is another standalone executable program. It’s an average kind of ISO burner, but it comes with options such as Create a bootable USB disc and Unpack ISO image to disc folder.
This ISO burner makes it pretty handy in times of making a bootable USB drive. Well, but sustained drives of bootable USB are quite limited actually, but it works with some of them.
You will have an option to erase the disk and use it as a re-writable disc along with running buffer under protection and selecting optical drive as an option.
We, all the feature makes it a social program to deal with among all free ISO burners.
8. ISO Workshop
You could see ISO Workshop as the newer version of ImgBurn. But the primary difference is that it’s less power consuming. It comes with an excellent interface with many options just like ImgBurn.
Just like ImgBurn you can burn the files to the CD, DVD or BD and can also create an ISO file just by dragging and dropping.
I liked the feature where you can load ISO file and view or extract it. There are lots of image, audio and video formats supported for burning. The cool thing is that you burn a disc just by pressing Ctrl + W.
But be careful as when I tried to install it tried to install adware. So, be sure to look for it during installation and avoid it.
9. Any Burn
Any Burn has a rather clean interface that the other free ISO burners. You will also have quite some functions available during burning. It supports 30 different image formats to CD, DVD, and Blu-ray media.
The thing is that you can erase a disc with this one and let along copy from disc to disc. It also offers some tweaks such as to verify and auto-eject.
It supports a broad range of platforms. There are two versions for you to try out: a portable one and an installer version. So that makes this one a bit different than others.
10. All Free ISO Burner
All Free ISO Burner is somewhat different than the previous free ISO burners. It runs as a wizard and will guide you along the way. So, it’s beneficial for persons that are not familiar with disc burners. I liked the interface as it’s user-friendly and colorful.
You can just follow the steps and quickly burn any files to a DVD in no time. It might try to install a toolbar. So, try to decline it if you don’t want it. Just uncheck any unnecessary tools that it ought to install.
Windows 10 Built-in Disc Image Burner
Windows has provided us with a built-in burner feature. As ISO file is widely used they have given us a small feature to settle for if we don’t find any other ISO burner worthy. It’s a basic tool with no additional function.
But it will get the job done. So, if none of the above couldn’t charm you then can try it out as a last resort.
So, these were all the free ISO burners for Windows 10. They all have different features and more or less the same tweaks. But my personal favorites are ImgBurn, Active@ ISO Burner for their features and BurnCDCC, for its standalone version. But in the end, it’s up to you what you want as an ISO burner.
